I heard good things about Margin Call going into it. Overall, I’m glad I saw the movie, but I don’t think I’ll probably watch it again.
It has a great cast, and is well executed, but I feel, as with Drive, that the ended failed to resonate with me. Perhaps had the conclusion drawn more meaning out of the story I would think more fondly of it.
I appreciate though, that the filmmakers did not portray the protagonists in the story as greedy soulless monsters, as other movies about finance tend to do. They also make a good point of illustrating how Wall Street helps the rest of America (and certainly the world at large) to continue functioning. Profit and capitalism don’t take their typical places as a couple of Hollywood’s favorite villains.
